Costs to build the App and make it operational nationwide
(Estimated Best Case - Worst Case)
Server $5000- $15,000
Data storage $6,000 - $10,000
Network Components $5,000 - $10,000
Space requirements $5,000 - $10,000 (6 months during development)
Operating system software $2,000 - $10,000
Application Development software $10,000 - $20,000 (including software license)
Report Generating Software $1,000 - $5,000
Developer costs $20,000 - $30,000
Contingencies and estimating mistakes $10,000 - $20,000
Overlooked items that crop up* $5,000 - $10,000
Plus special wiring/conduits, fire suppression, etc. - (possibly) another $2,000- $5,000
Base total. $71,000 - $145,000
And (possibly) half that much again to publicize the app and generate public interest in participating. It would be of little use to create the app if there were no way concurrently to get people talking about it and using it in significant numbers. Some of the costs will vary depending on what the APP software engineer finds he/she needs to complete the work.
These figures are intended to be a “best case - worst case” range of the costs of implementing this system nationwide in the United States. We could get lucky and it might cost less. Maybe mostly in the low end of the range. Hopefully that will happen, but we can’t count on it.
Depending on government inflation of the money supply, between now and the time the system is fully implemented, the end cost could conceivably be twice that amount. So, we are burning daylight, and need to expedite making it happen as quickly as possible.
